b. Vienna, July 11, 1868, 
d. Munich, Germany, Nov. 20, 1939, composer, conductor and 
musicologist, son of Ottokar  Lorenz. Conductor at various German 
opera houses, from appr. 1920 increasingly turned to musicology and 
gained important insights into the oeuvre of R. Wagner and 17th 
century opera.
