Ludwig, Ernst, b. Freudenthal (now Bruntál, Czech Republic), Jan. 19, 1842, 
d. Vienna, Oct. 14, 1915, chemist. Studied pharmacy, then chemistry in 
Vienna, became Professor of Applied Medical Chemistry at the 
University of Vienna in 1872, member of the ''Oberster Sanitaetsrat''; 
head of the chemical laboratory of the Department of Pathology and 
Anatomy of the Vienna General Hospital.
