Lunz Strata, rock formation of the Northern Limestone Alps from the 
Trias with sandstone and clay slate, frequently found in Lower 
Austria, forming gentle slopes with meadows between sheer limestone 
mountains; in former times significant hard coal deposits ( 
Eisenwurzen); famous for its fossils and special plant life (Lunz 
flora).
