!!!Lunzer See
Lunzer See, Lake, Lower Austria, alt. 608 m, 1.6 km long,
0.6 km wide, 34 m deep. Lake Erlaufsee and Lake Lunzer See,
which is located in the Eisenwurzen mountains, are the only large
lakes of the Lower Austrian Alpine foothills; municipality Lunz am See
(alt. 601 m) on the western shore. The Seebach stream flows
through Lake Lunzer See, which drains it towards the River Ybbs;
along the upper course of the Seebach stream Lakes Mittersee and
Obersee. The Seehof Palace east of the lake houses the Lunz Biological
Station of the Institute for Limnology of the Austrian Academy of
Sciences (founded in 1906 by K. Kupelwieser).
