!!!Mädchenlyzeum
Maedchenlyzeum, school type introduced in 1900 to ensure the uniform
organisation of secondary education for girls. Since the young women
who had attended this school were restricted to the status of
non-degree programme students at university, these schools were only
popular for a very short time (27 schools in 1911). Even the
introduction of the women´s upper secondary school
(Frauenoberschule) building on the lower secondary level of the
Maedchenlyzeum, could not prevent the abolition of the latter in 1922
(the last Maedchenlyzeum was closed down in 1928).
