b. Oberndorf (Salzburg), May 26, 1921, conductor and composer. 1953 
head of the orchestra of the Salzburg College of Music "Mozarteum", 
from 1958 at the Berlin State Opera, from 1966 onwards conductor at 
the Vienna State Opera, from 1971 at the Vienna Volksoper. Honorary 
Member of the Vienna State Opera.
