d. Baden, Lower Austria, Aug. 3, 1835, kapellmeister, well-known 
composer of singspiele; taught by C.  Ditters von Dittersdorf, 
composed for the theatre from 1782 onwards, from 1786 music director 
and composer at the Theater in der Leopoldstadt in Vienna, from 
1807-1813 at the Deutsche Oper in Prague, 1813-1830 worked with F.  
Raimund and A.  Baeuerle again at the Theater in der Josefstadt.

Approx. 250 compositions for plays: Kasperl als Fagottist oder 
Die Zauberzither, 1791; Das Neusonntagskind, 1793; Die Schwestern von 
Prag, 1794; Die Teufelsmuehle am Wienerberg, 1799; Die neue Alceste, 
1806; Tankredi, 1817; Die travestirte Zauberfloete, 1818; Der 
Barometermacher auf der Zauberinsel, 1823; Die gefesselte Phantasie, 
1828; Alpenkoenig und Menschenfeind, 1828. - Church music, chamber 
music, compositions for wind instruments.
