Maderthaner, Leopold, b. Hausmening (Lower Austria), 
Sept. 9, 1935, entrepreneur and politician (Austrian People's 
Party, OeVP). Founded his own company (Neon-Maderthaner 
Ges. m. b. H.) in 1959; 1972 to 1985 in the City 
Council of Amstetten, 1986 to 1990 President of the Lower Austria 
Chamber of Commerce; 1979-1989 Member of the Bundesrat, 1989-1994, 
1994-1995 and since 1996 Member of the Nationalrat; 1989 Federal 
Chairman of the Austrian  Economic Union ("Oesterreichischer 
Wirtschaftsbund") and 1990-2000 President of the  Wirtschaftskammer 
Oesterreich.
