Magna Holding AG, Austrian holding company of the international 
automotive parts supplier Magna International Inc., of Toronto, 
Canada, successor to Multimatic Investments Ltd., a company formed by 
F.   (see) Stronach in Toronto in 1957, with a staff of more than 
54,000 worldwide (1999); the European headquarters of the group (Magna 
Europa) has been located at Oberwaltersdorf, Lower Austria, since 
1987. Magna Holding operates production facilities at Ebergassing 
(Magna Eybl GmbH, Lower Austria), and at Weiz, Krottendorf, Grambach 
and Albersdorf-Prebuch (all in Styria).   (see) Steyr-Daimler-Puch AG 
and   (see) Steyr-Daimler-Puch Fahrzeugtechnik AG & Co. KG have been 
members of the group since 1998. Sales in 1998 totalled approx. ATS 20 
billion. In the same year, the number of persons on the Austrian 
company's payroll was 7900.
