Maier, Michael, b. Klagenfurt (Carinthia), March 21, 1958, 
journalist. Studied law as well as church music and organ in Graz. 
1983-1988 secretary-general of Design Research International in 
Indianapolis; from 1993 head of the media department of the newspaper 
"Die Presse", 1994-1995 editor. 1996-1998 editor-in-chief of 
the newspaper "Berliner Zeitung"; 1999 editor-in-chief of 
the German magazine "Stern" for a short period. Since 1996 
columnist for the newspaper "Der Standard"; since 2000 
feature writer for the "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung" in 
Jerusalem.
