b. Kranj, Slovenia (then Krainburg), Oct. 11, 1879, d. Schwanberg 
(Styria), March 8, 1944, philosopher. Studied philosophy, mathematics 
and physics in Graz; 1923 to 1942 Professor of Philosophy at Graz, 
1942 retired due to illness. Investigated the problematique of the 
distinction between "being" and the "imperative of being", and aimed 
at a holistic-dynamic interpretation of reality.
