!!!Mandl, Hans

b. Szeged (Hungary), Sept. 28, 1899, 
d. Vienna, Oct. 23, 1970, educator and politician (Austrian Social 
Democratic Party; SPOe). 1948 to 1964 Federal Chairman of the 
Kinderfreunde charity, 1949 to1964 Town Councillor for Culture and 
Public Education in Vienna, 1959 to 1964 also Deputy Mayor. During his 
term of office the Vienna Festival "Wiener Festwochen" was resumed and 
the History Museum, the Stadthalle multi-purpose hall as well as 
district community centres ("Haus der Begegnung") were built.
