b. Vienna, March 29, 1913, 
d. Vienna, July 7, 1988, stage designer, director, theatre director, 
husband of H.  Sochor, Father of Paulus  Manker. Studied directing and 
acting with M.  Reinhardt, and stage design with A.  Roller and O.  
Strnad, from 1938 until his retirement in 1979 at the Wiener 
Volkstheater, from 1938 stage designer, from1946 director (numerous 
Nestroy and Anzengruber productions); during his management, 1969 to 
1979, M. supported and helped young dramatists like (P.  Turrini, W.  
Bauer) and actors like (K.  Hackl F.  Morak and K. Speiser).
