Maria Anzbach, Lower Austria, market town in the district of St. 
Poelten, alt. 245 m, pop. 2,562 (pop. (1981) 2,151), area 
18.20 km%%sup 2/%, situated on the Anzbach stream east of the 
market town of Neulengbach. - Franciscan Convent (Annunziata Convent, 
at Furth), Convent of the Sisters of Mercy (at Meierhoefen, part of 
Maria Anzbach), sports hall; Economy: construction industry, concrete 
processing. First documented mention as early as 998. - Late Gothic 
staggered church (naves of different height with the central nave 
being the highest, 1470-1490), star and rib vaulting, impressive west 
tower adapted in Baroque style, high altar (1771) with a 17%%sup th/%  
century miraculous representation of the Virgin Mary, Gothic charnel 
house (2%%sup nd/%  half of the 15%%sup th/%  century); Baroque 
cemetery gate.
