b. Vienna, Aug. 27, 1882,
d. Vienna, Dec. 4, 1959, actor, singer, director, theatre manager,
librettist, film producer; brother of Ernst Marischka. First
performance in 1908 as operetta tenor; from 1912 performed at the
"Theater an der Wien". 1921 co-director with his father-in-law W.
Karczag, 1923 to 1935 manager of the Theater an der Wien.
(premières of operettas), from 1926 also manager of the
"Raimundtheater" in Vienna, until 1934 President of the Association of
Austrian Theatre Managers. From 1949 he taught the Class for Operetta
of the Vienna Musikhochschule*. With his brother Ernst one of the
founders of Austrian film production.
