Markt Piesting, Lower Austria, market town in the district of Wiener 
Neustadt, alt. 347 m, pop. 2,374, area 18.17 km%%sup 2/%, 
situated in the middle of Piesing Valley; made up by two different 
parts called Markt Piesting and Dreistetten. - Construction industry, 
construction of engines, institution offering social services 
(Soziales Hilfswerk), Red Cross, nursery run by the "Oesterreichische 
Kinderfreunde"%%sup */%  charity, outdoor swimming pool situated in 
the middle of a small wood, ice rink, extensive sports grounds, Hohe 
Wand Nature Park (conservation area turned into a nature park in 1989) 
situated south-west of Markt Piesting. The settlement of Markt 
Piesting was originally built around a village green. - Ruins of 
Starhemberg Castle; Trinity column (first half of the 18%%sup th/%  
century); parish church (1859), built in different historicist styles, 
altar piece of the high altar created by L. Kupelwieser; in the 
vicinity, Baroque wayside shrines, as well as the house in which L.  
Kupelwieser was born. Mountain refuge.
