Martinak, Eduard, b. Varaždin (Croatia), Sept. 5, 1859,
d. Klagenfurt (Carinthia), Aug. 3, 1943, educator, Professor at the
University of Graz. 1919 to 1922 Head of the reform department for
secondary schools at the Federal Ministry of Education. M. developed a
school of semasiology (science of the meaning of words) influenced by
psychology and "object theory" ( Grazer Schule), contributed to the
development of aptitude tests and improved secondary-school teacher
training.
