alt. 407 m, pop. 2,372, area 3.06 km%%sup 2/%, situated in
the Mattig Valley south-east of Braunau. - District court, vocational
school of agriculture, companies producing prams, staples and shoulder
pads, plastics industry (insulating glass). - Neo-Gothic parish church
(1867-1872), Gothic west tower (1504); Baroque Trinity Chapel
(formerly annexed to a hospital) ornamented with stuccowork by
J. M. Vierthaler and a fresco by J. G. Reischl (1739), high
altar (around 1730-1740). Spitzenberg Palace (1700).
