!!!Maximilian, Heiliger

Maximilian, Saint; feast day October 12; legendary bishop who died as 
a martyr; in the early 8th century, the monastery of St. Peter in 
Salzburg erected a cell dedicated to the saint above his alleged 
grave, out of which the town of Bischofshofen developed. M. was patron 
saint of the diocese of Linz until 1962.
