!!!Mayenburg, Ruth

b. Srbice, Czech Republic (then Serbitz), July 1, 1907, 
d. Vienna, June 26, 1993, publisher, writer and translator, from an 
aristocratic family. Lived in Vienna from 1930 to 1934 and then again 
from 1945 onwards, in 1934 actively took part in the February 
Uprisings and had to leave Austria (for Prague, then the USSR). 1932 
first marriage, to Ernst  Fischer. In exile became a member of the 
illegal Austrian Communist Party (KPOe), supported the Red Army and 
worked for the press agency of the Communist International. Returning 
to Austria, she became General Secretary of the Austrian Soviet 
Society, worked as a film dramaturge for the Wien-Film company and 
also acted in the film "Wiener Maedeln" (1949) by W.  Forst. In 1966 
she left the Communist Party KPOe and concentrated on her writing.
