Opinion Research, statistical technique aiming at observing, 
identifying and analysing human attitudes. Based on polling 
representative samples of the population and generalising the results 
obtained, opinion research is undertaken by numerous institutions in 
Austria. Their results are important for the social sciences and 
political decision-makers. In Austria, the major opinion-research 
institutes (Fessel, OGM, IFES, IMAS) for the most part maintain 
ideological links with political parties.
