Messensee, Juergen, b. Vienna, Aug. 29, 1936, painter. 
1955-1960 studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna; achieved 
international recognition with works using mainly traditional painting 
techniques (allusions to D. Velázquez). An important theme of 
his pictures is femininity.
