Metnitz Valley, Carinthia, north-western side valley of the Gurktal 
valley, in the Gurktal Alps. The upper course of the Metnitz river 
forms the northernmost mountain valley of Central Carinthia (west-east 
course). Metnitz Valley reaches from Flattnitzer Hoehe (mountain 
plateau) in the east across Metnitz (851 m), Grades (870 m) 
and Friesach (634 m) up to Poeckstein-Zwischenwaessern.
