Miba AG, develops and manufactures engine and vehicle components, with 
headquarters at Laakirchen, Upper Austria. Founded in 1927 by Franz 
Mitterbauer as an engine repair shop, now an international group 
manufacturing and selling plain bearings, sintered parts and friction 
linings for motor vehicles, ships, aircraft and wind turbines. In 
1998/99 Miba AG, which has 1930 employees and is listed on the Stock 
Exchange, reported a turnover in the order of ATS 3 billion. The 
company has sales points and production sites in many countries in 
Europe, North and South America and Asia. Since 1986 its board has 
been chaired by Peter   (see) Mitterbauer.
