Miesenbach, Lower Austria, municipality in the district of Wiener 
Neustadt, alt. 450 m, pop. 722, area 34.14 km%%sup 2/%, 
scattered settlement on Miesenbach stream, between Duerre and Hohe 
Wand hills. Wood processing industries (sawmills, cable drum 
production plants, etc.). To the west, Gauermannhuette mountain 
refuge, (1,154 m). Ruins of Castle Scheuchenstein (13%%sup th/%  
century), situated on a steep rock, in ruins since 1672; 
Gothic-Baroque parish church Scheuchenstein, in churchyard, grave of 
the painter F.  Gauermann, whose local birthplace houses the 
Gauermannmuseum (1976), where his life and work is documented.
