!!!Mildner, Johann Josef b. Studena, Czech Republic (then Kaltenbach), Sept. 22, 1765, d. Gutenbrunn (Lower Austria), Feb. 11, 1808, glass cutter and optician. From 1779 in Gutenbrunn near Martinsberg (Lower Austria). He used gold etching, polychrome techniques, etc. to produce decorated drinking glasses ("M. glasses") in the style of sandwich glasses. His work, together with that of A. Kothgasser and G. S. Mohn, is considered the most significant glass art of the early 19th century. !Literature G. E.
