Einer der erfolgreichsten österreichischen Leichtathleten: im 3000-m-Lauf 1980 6. bei den Olympischen Spielen in Moskau und 1983 8. bei der Weltmeisterschaft. Errang über 40 österreichische Meistertitel und stellte österreichische Rekorde über 3000 m, 5000 m und 10.000 m auf.
