Mitterkirchen im Machland, Upper Austria, municipality in the district 
of Perg, pop. 1755, area 28.68 km%%sup 2/%, situated on the 
northern bank of the Danube. -Wallsee-Mitterkirchen power station 
(1968, 210 MW). - Parish church (hall church; neo-Gothic 
interior, also older parts and stellar rib vaults from 1547). - 
Completely levelled barrow field of the  Hallstatt Culture. The dead 
were buried in wooden burial chambers with food and ceramic vessel 
offerings. Dead women were placed on a richly decorated ceremonial 
carriage. Open air museum.
