!!!Modestus, Heiliger

Modestus, Saint, feast day February 5, Apostle of Carinthia, choir 
bishop of Salzburg in the 8%%sup th/%  century, was directed by  
Virgil to go to the Carantanians with 4 priests before 767, 
consecrated the churches of Maria Saal and St. Peter in Holz, and a 
church "ad Undrimas" (near Poels, Styria) as well as numerous other 
unnamed places. Cenotaph at Maria Saal (walled-up pre-Romanesque table 
altar).
