b. Vienna, Feb. 21, 1759, 
d. Vienna, April 16, 1812, landscape painter. Student of 
J. C.  Brand at the Vienna Academy, promoted by Prince W. A. 
 Kaunitz. 1795 rejected a professorship at the Academy, 1802 travelled 
with J.  Gauermann through Tyrol and on the journey created 
illustrations for the collection of panoramas "Prospecte aus dem 
Tyrol".
