Die Gemeinde ist eine gewerblich-landwirtschaftliche Gemeinde auf der Oberinnviertler Seenplatte. In Moosdorf befinden sich das Betriebsbaugebiet Elling und Betriebe, die in der Holzverarbeitung tätig sind.
Sehenswert sind unter anderem:
* Römische Villa rustica
* Pfarrkirche (urk. 1150, Neubau 1682) mit Turm von 1804, reicher Barockstuck, prächtiger Stuckhochaltar, barocke Seitenaltäre und schöne Kanzel (17. Jh.)
* Mühlen
* Unweit von Mossdorf: Ibmer, Holzöster- und Höllerer See und das Ibmer Moor.
