b. Vienna, April 27, 1922, 
d. Vienna, March 17, 1997, alpinist, founder and 1962-1991 manager of 
the Hochgebirgsschule Glockner Kaprun. Numerous expeditions (including 
Karakorum, first ascent of the Gasherbrum II, 8045 m). 
Towards the end of his life dedicated himself to teaching 
mountaineering to children and young people.
