1968-1972 director of the Flanders Festival; from 1973 management of 
opera houses in Duesseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Paris, 1981 manager 
of Theâtre de la Monnaie in Brussel. 1992-2001 director of the  
Salzburg Festival.
