Mutters, Tirol, municipality in the district of Innsbruck-Land, alt. 
830 m, pop. 1,793, area 19.03 km%%sup 2/%, tourist resort 
(99,030 overnight stays, mainly in summer) on the southwestern 
mountain terrace near Innsbruck above the entrance of the Wipptal 
valley into the Inn valley. - Gondola ropeway up Muttereralm mountain 
(1,608 m; nature preserve since 1956). Late Gothic parish church, 
interior altered in Baroque style around 1759, surrounded by a 
cemetery wall, ceiling frescoes by A. and J. A. Zoller; 
Herz-Jesu-Kirche (Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, consecrated 
1927) in Kreith; houses with girder gables (18%%sup th/%  century) and 
paintings (R. Thaler, 1940-1945).
