Noetsch im Gailtal, Carinthia, municipality in the district of 
Villach-Land, alt. 569 m, pop. 2,368, area 
42.21 km%%sup 2/%, summer tourism (60,644 overnight stays) at the 
foot of the Villacher Alpe mountain (Dobratsch mountain with nature 
preserve and wild flowers´ garden). Multi-purpose cultural hall, 
club airfield; wood processing, soda water production, horticulture. - 
In Saak (part of the municipality), late-Gothic parish church, later 
Baroque alterations (also the interior), frescoes 1465, 1516, on the 
outside 1924, altars 1700-1800; Wasserleonburg Castle (first 
documented mention 1253) with components from different periods: keep 
(14%%sup th/%  or 15%%sup th/%  century), Renaissance pergola, castle 
chapel (interior altered in 1723); in Kerschdorf im Gailtal 
late-Gothic Nikolauskirche church (15%%sup th/%  century); Kerscheneck 
Castle (16%%sup th/% century); late-Gothic parish church in St. 
Georgen, wall paintings from the 15%%sup th/%  century, main altar 
around 1750. Customs/Traditions: Gailtaler Kirchtag fair with 
traditional events "Kufenstechen" and "Lindentanz" (in Noetsch im 
Gailtal in July, in August in Saak)  Noetscher Kreis.
