NATO Partnership for Peace (PfP): permanent feature of the European 
security architecture formed in 1994, bringing NATO members and 27 
partners together in a loose cooperation without membership in the 
defence alliance. Austria joined the PfP on February 26, 1995 and has 
the right to determine the extent to which it wishes to participate 
actively   (see) Neutrality.
