Food, Beverage and Tobacco Industry, important industrial sector in 
Austria, produced goods with a value of ATS 108 billion in 1993 (14% 
of the total industrial production). The most important sectors are: 
tobacco ( Austria Tabak) and brewing industry ( Beer),  Meat and  
Confectionery Industry, milk ( Dairy Farming) and cheese production ( 
Cheese), soft drinks and  Mineral Water  production,  Sugar Industry, 
fodder,  Bread-,  Oil and Edible Fat Industry. The development of the 
last few years has been characterized by numerous mergers. In 1993 
there were 515 companies that employed 40,000 people. 17% of all 
products are exported (exports with a value of ATS 34 billion). 
Germany is the main trade partner.
