Natters, Tirol, municipality in the district of Innsbruck Land, alt.
783 m, pop. 1,788, area 7.33 km%%sup 2/%, summer and winter
tourism (especially day trips, 60,888 overnight stays), situated in
the foothills of the mountains to the south of Innsbruck. Hospital,
Raiffeisen sports centre (with ski jump), skiing, building maintenance
company, wood processing, first documented mention in 1151. Originally
late-Gothic parish church, Baroque alterations around 1770 but
re-Gothicised in 1884. Sun-dial (1759, designed by P. Anich, painted
by J. A. Zoller) on the south tower, neo-Gothic high altar with
late-Gothic crucifixion group (around 1480), marble tomb (1592).
Former Waidburg estate (municipal office), houses with decorative
gables and Baroque frescoes, "Kaiserdenkmal" ("Emperor´s
Memorial", 1768, since 1963 on the Brenner road). In the vicinity,
Lake Natterer See (recreation centre, mud baths).
