Umgebung, alt. 230 m, pop. 2,645 (1981: 2,331), area 
4.24 km%%sup 2/%, situated at Lake Neufelder See (artificial lake 
on the site of a former brown-coal mine) at the Lower Austrian border. 
Army aquatic training camp, sports centre; data technology firm, 
chemical-pharmaceutical plant, rural market, construction and iron 
products market, lakeside bathing place with caravan and mobile home 
camping site run by the municipality, restaurant, etc. First 
documented mention in 1678. Parish church, Neo-Gothic Protestant 
church (1904).
