b. Salzburg, July 10, 1778, 
d. Paris. France, April 3, 1858, composer and pianist, studied with 
Michael Neukomm (who was a relative of his) and, from 1797, J.  Haydn. 
''Kapellmeister'' in many countries (including St. Petersburg in 
1804-08, Brazil in 1816); after 1809 lived mostly in Paris. In charge 
of the music performance in connection with the dedication of the 
Mozart monument in Salzburg in 1842.

!Works
10 operas, oratorios, 15 masses, 5 te deums, psalm, 
instrumental music, more than 275 lieder in several languages.
