Student and assistant of Friedrich von Schmidt; from 1883 worked free-lance; 1889-1900 member of the Vienna Municipal Council, 1891-1895 city councillor. Built many villas, domestic and administrative buildings as well as churches. His style developed from rather severe neo-Renaissance to late historistic forms. His father Franz v. N. the Elder (1815-1888) and his brother Gustav v. N. (1856-1928) were also well-known architects. \\ Projects: Vienna: houses with arcades at Rathausplatz, 1878-1883 (some with F.
