b. Vienna, Jan. 6, 1937, composer; uncle of Olga  Neuwirth. Studied 
under K.  Schiske and at the University of Vienna (theatre studies and 
musicology), 1983-2001 professor at the University of Fine Arts in 
Berlin. Dealt with the works of G.  Mahler and F.  Schreker from a 
theoretical and compositorial point of view. Was particularly 
interested in the the temporal dimension of music. Numerous prizes.
