Hellmesberger sr. and J. Hellmesberger sr. as well as under F. O. Dessoff), 1874-1877 violinist at the court opera orchestra. 1878 went to Leipzig, where he began his international career as a conductor. Concentrated on the works of A. Bruckner. As a conductor he set an example for following generations (W. Furtwaengler). Also worked as a composer. !Works symphony; orchestra phantasy on themes from V.
