!!!Normalschule

Normalschule, model school set up in Vienna by J.  Messmer in 1771; in 
addition to reading, writing and arithmetic it also offered vocational 
training subjects, especially teacher training classes. After the  
"Allgemeinen Schulordnung" (1774) a 4 year Normalschule school was 
established in every provincial capital.
