OECD, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development; founded 
in 1961, headquarters in Paris. Its predecessor organisation was the 
OEEC (Organisation for European Economic Co-operation) founded in 
1948. Goals include the co-ordination and intensification of economic 
policies and development aid policies of the 24 member states 
(industrial nations of the Western world). Austria was a founding 
member of the OEEC.
