Oberau, Tirol, village in the district of Kufstein, alt. 938 m, 
tourist resort at the foot of Kragenjoch mountain (alt. 1,425 m), 
cadastral district of  Wildschoenau municipality. - Museum of local 
history (display of a large collection of agricultural tools). Baroque 
parish church (1751/1752) with ceiling fresco by J. A. Moelk, 
high altar with beautifully carved figures (around 1750-1760) and 
spire with triple bulbous cupola; St. Anthony´s church (1674, 
reconstructed from 1706-1708), with foliage-decorated altar (1707), 
high altar with richly ornamented acanthus frame; Schnellhornhof house 
with wall frescoes depicting christological themes (1632). A. Thaler 
(1883-1939), founding father of the "Dreizehnlinden" settlement in 
Brazil, hails from Oberau.
