Oberdrauburg, Carinthia, market town in the district of Spittal an der 
Drau, alt. 632 m, pop. 1,419, area 69.90 km%%sup 2/%, in the 
Oberdrau valley, at the southern foot of the Kreuzeck Mountains; near 
the Kaerntner Tor and Tiroler Tor narrows. -Tourism during the summer 
months (52,934 overnight stays), trade. - First documented mention in 
1240 as "castrum traburc", formerly an important toll station; parish 
church in late Baroque - Neo-classical style (orig. built in 1422, 
reconstruction from 1805-1819) with vault paintings by C. 
Brandstaetter. On Rosenberg mountain (alt. 738 m), Lady Chapel in 
late Baroque style and the ruins of Hohenburg Castle (first documented 
mention 1202). Picturesque old houses in the town centre (16%%sup th/% 
 -19%%sup th/%  centuries). Oetting parish church in Gothic style with 
wall frescoes from around 1400, high altar (16%%sup th/%  century); 
Unterpirkach pilgrimage church (1800-1813, newly consecrated in 1963); 
Zwickenberg parish church in Romanesque-Gothic style (13%%sup th/%  - 
15%%sup th/%  centuries) with late Gothic spire, frescoes along the 
south wall, cycle of frescoes depicting the life of St. Leonard 
(15%%sup th/%  century) on the exterior, winged altar in late Gothic 
style (around 1510).
