Oberlienz, Tirol, municipality in the district of Lienz, alt.
756 m, pop. 1,326, area 33.80 km%%sup 2/%, at the entrance
of the Isel valley, north-west of Lienz. - International Summer
Academy, open-air museum; summer tourism (29, 473 overnight stays). -
Parish church in late Gothic style (1416, around 1762 adaptation in
Baroque style), fresco on the exterior (around 1460-1470) by the
Brixen School, windows by the Tiroler Glasmalerei Studio and vault
paintings (1824); cemetery chapel with life-sized wooden figures
("Grueftl-Juden", donated in 1707); branch church, originally in
Gothic style with Baroque adaptations, in Oberdrum; branch church of
St. Helen´s in late Gothic style (before 1532) with 2 old
bells (around 1300); chapels (17%%sup th/% -19%%sup th/% century).
Farmsteads with frescoes and decorative painted façades.
