Obermauern, Tirol, village in the district of Lienz, village, alt. 
1,303 m, in the Virgental valley on the north bank of the River 
Isel, in the municipality of  Virgen. Wood processing. - Maria Schnee 
pilgrimage church in late Gothic style (1421-1456); since 1919 
symbolic sacrifices of rams ("Widderopfer") on Whitsunday in the 
church of St. Peter zu Lavant; in the porch, fresco cycles 
(15%%sup th/%  century), in the nave and in the choir frescoes by 
Simon von Taisten (1484 and 1488), high altar (around 1660) with 
shrine in late Gothic style (around 1510) and "Schoene Madonna" 
painting (around 1430), sundial (1601).
