Obertraun, Upper Austria, municipality in the district of Gmunden, 
alt. 511 m, pop. 811, area 89.67 km%%sup 2/%, summer and 
winter resort (151,654 overnight stays) south-east of Lake Hallstatt, 
at the mouth of River Traun. - Dachstein-Oberfeldkaserne barracks with 
alpine training facilities, federal sports facility (since 1947), 
Kinderdorf, congress facilities; Dachsteinbahn cable way to the  
Dachsteincaves and to Krippenstein mountain (alt. 2,108 m); 
north-east of Obertraun Koppenbruellerhoehle cave. - Branch church 
(1771) donated by empress Maria Theresia in 1770.
